One Year Ago We arrived In Kazakhstan
How else would we commemorate our 1-year anniversary of landing in Kazakhstan? We went to Disney World! Andrew did not seem to mind the crowds, neither would I if I got pushed around in a stroller, napped throughout the day in my stroller waking only for parades or the occassional duck, to be carried to a ride, or fed ice cream.

The first day we were there Andrew made the most of his Disney Experience, playing with the pen and paper in the hotel room within the first 30 seconds, then spending an hour pushing the stroller around a back corner of MGM studios. We had several Disney workers come up to us and make 'witty' remarks. Thanks, we know we spent a lot of money to have him push the stroller around, and your Magical Reminder of that was oh so appreciated. But where else can you do it in front of a huge picture of a Couple Of Purple Otters and a giant Bear ? Money well spent, and I am sure the orphanage director had just this activity in mind when she entrusted us with little Andrew a year earlier.

We were there for a week and it was a lot of fun watching Andrew react to everything. He had a bit of a hard time trying to make sense of the giant ducks, cats, bears and mice who roam the restaurants. But he did not freak out screaming once. One morning we went to a breakfast with Pooh, Tigger, Piglet and Eyeore. They slowly make their way around the restaurant so everyone gets a chance to take photos(got lots) and get autographs (thank goodness we did not do that). We got a chance to see everyone except Pooh. We tried to string out breakfast as long as we could waiting for Pooh to 'return from the honey pot' then make his way to our table, but there's only so much food you can feed a kid without concern of a later explosion. After a full breakfast, then 2 bowls of whip cream, yes I said bowls of whip cream, we left satisfied with our photos of Tigger, Eyeore and Piglet, who Andrew was quite confused by. I guess a 5 foot Pink Pig is a bit odd even in his world.

Highlights from Our Trip

10. Andrew strongly dislikes busses.
9. Andrew strongly likes farting in the pool.
8. Ice Cream is dairy, and therefore is allowed 3-5 times a day
7. It's A Small World is enjoyable when you go with a child
6. Ice Cream 3 times a day makes many farts..see #9
5. Vanilla Ice Cream does not stain as much as Chocolate
4. Fireworks are loud and make children smile, clap and cry simutaneously.
3. Ice Cream on a stick in 90 degree heat melts faster than can be consumed.
2. Pirate Of The Carribean has the most entertaining waiting line for a child.
1. Pooh, not "Winnie The", does not taste good.

As much as Andrew enjoyed the rides, he really liked the little playgrounds they have all over Epcot and the Pooh Playground in the Magic Kingdom. One night the park stayed open until 2am (we made it to 11pm) and Andrew spent about an hour on the Pooh Tree trunk slide under the lights as we rested our feet. But the 'tongue' slide was his favorite....it's really a leaf in teh Honey i Shrunk The Kids Playground. His word of the week was "Dyed" which is Andrew-speak for "Slide". Unfortunately, now whenever I drive by a public playground or we walk by a residential backyard he thinks those slides are for him.

Pooping with Celebrities
One night we walk into in the Noodle Station in the Magic Kingdom to get dinner and they had one section roped off with bunches of cameras and a couple security people. Andrew was fast asleep in his stroller so we ordered and ate dinner while he slept. Over the course of dinner Rob said it was John Travolta doing an interview, so of course I wanted to get a picture, but was shut down. Andrew shared my excitement over the celebrity citing and pooped himself to such an extent that we purchased new clothes for him in the park that night. Later that week we went to Downtown Disney, got this photo with Potatoe, and hoped the celebrity citing would not cause the same output.

It was a tiring week for everyone, but it was a lot of fun. Even Daddy enjoyed it.

A couple weeks after we got home from DisneyWorld we heard from our adoption agency that Andrew's little brother made it through the last major paperwork phase. I will be in Guatemala for about a week and we will return home early July. Adoption was official May 23rd, so we can post a picture.
